NCLC submitted comments in support of proposed regulations that will strengthen protections against schools’ false certification of financial aid eligibility of students that do not have a high school diploma or GED and help to ensure that the Department takes actions against schools that engaged in deceptive and illegal recruiting practices.

Testimony in Support of Delaware Medical Debt Protection Act

This proposed legislation in Delaware would prohibit the use of civil arrest warrants, foreclosures, wage garnishment in the collection of medical debt. The bill would cap interest that could be charged on medical debt, prohibit credit reporting of medical debts less than one year old, and would create rules for affordable payment plans.
