Airing on Marketplace Radio on April 7, 2025, Chris Farrell and Meredith Garretson Morbey interview NCLC Senior Attorney Odette Williamson for coverage of rising debt among older adults debt and how that’s pushing more households into the ranks of the financially precarious.

“We’ve seen an uptick in debt, including mortgage debt, among older adults for a long time, for a couple decades now. It has to do with several factors. It has to do with cutback and some safety net provisions. It has to do with [the] increase in expenses, most recently due to inflation. And it has to do with the fact that older adults are aging with just fewer resources.”
