This is a Maryland Energy Affordability Coalition (MEAC) sign on letter/testimony in support of HB 648 which lowers the age for the simplified energy assistance redetermination from 65 to 60. This simplified process has a 92% success rate. Seniors who receive energy assistance and are on fixed incomes receive an energy assistance redetermination letter that they sign and return to continue energy assistance vs filling out a new application.
