NCLC submitted testimony in support of a Massachusetts bill, “An Act to remove collateral consequences and protect the presumption of innocence” (H.B. 1493 / S.B 998). This bill would provide for the immediate sealing of a criminal offense at the time of the final disposition if the charge did not end in a conviction and the person does not object to such sealing.
