The petition, signed by six national public interest organizations who represent car buyers
across the country, demonstrates that despite agreeing to terms in signed credit contracts, car dealers regularly refuse to follow through with the original agreement with buyers, and typically engage in yo yo tactics by claiming the transaction depends on the dealer’s ability to sell the signed sales contract to a third-party financing entity at the dealer’s desired price.
The petition asserts that this practice is deceptive by its very nature and is wholly inconsistent with several federal consumer protection laws.
