The proposal includes many crucial priorities to heal our nation from the COVID-19 pandemic, both medical and economic, including additional rental assistance. We write, however, to ask you to expand the proposal’s relief for homeowners as we face a coming potential foreclosure crisis in the coming year.
As organizations with a shared goal of ensuring that higher education students have access to high quality education that does not leave them with worthless degrees and unaffordable debt, whether they enroll in brick-and-mortar programs or in online education programs, we appreciate the call for proposals to modify NC-SARA policy. NC-SARA’s position affords it important opportunities to ensure policies exist to protect students from being harmed.

The undersigned civil rights, housing, and consumer organizations respectfully request a 30-day extension of time to provide comments on FHA’s proposed changes to the loan-level certifications, annual lender certifications, and defect taxonomy for FHA-insured loans.
On behalf of the clients, communities, and neighborhoods we represent, we urge HUD to adopt enhancements to the FHA COVID-19 waterfall to address the impact of rising interest rates. The rate HUD uses to determine the interest rate for modified loans has increased by almost 2.5% over the last year. The higher interest rate directly limits the amount of relief borrowers can obtain through FHA’s waterfall, especially for those borrowers who currently have low rates.
