These comments discuss the many junk fees charged to tenants and rental housing applicants. We urge the CFPB to work with the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) to investigate and prevent the imposition of these junk fees so that they do not end up in the hands of debt collectors, impair renters’ credit reports, and jeopardize renters’ future ability to secure safe and affordable housing.
