NCLC originally published the Model Family Financial Protection Act (MFFPA) in 2013. In 2026, NCLC published an updated version of Title II of the MFFPA, addressing post-judgment collection issues, as the Model Family Property and Income Protection Act.
Title I of the MFFPA, which focuses on protections for consumers sued in debt collection lawsuits, was renamed the Model Debt Collection Reform Act at that time.
