Below is a list of with information from the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB) about many consumer reporting companies, updated for 2021. Consumer reporting companies collect your information and provide reports to other companies. These companies use these reports to inform decisions about providing you with credit, employment, residential rental housing, insurance, and in other decision-making situations.

The list below includes the three nationwide consumer reporting companies and several others that focus on certain market areas and consumer segments. This list is not intended to be all-inclusive, but there are many companies in it. The CFPB provides you with tips so you can determine which might be important to you.

This list also makes it easier for you to take advantage of your legal rights to (1) obtain the information in your consumer reports, and (2) dispute suspected inaccuracies in your reports with companies as needed.
