Financially distressed consumers often look for assistance to help get them out of debt.  Seeking this type of assistance can be a good idea, but it can also trap unsuspecting consumers.  Some debt relief services, especially non-profit credit counseling services, are legitimate, but many companies are simply rip-offs.  Our work focuses on strengthening consumer protection laws and provides relief for those who are harmed, as well as helping consumers evaluate the different types of services.
