This webinar will first provide an overview of debt defense practices including lawyer-of-the-day programs in Massachusetts. We will then introduce the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act with a focus on coverage, violations, and damages. We will also hear stories from the field of how the FDCPA has been used to help clients facing overwhelming debt.

This free webinar is part of a four-part consumer debt program to provide the knowledge attorneys need to assist low-moderate-income clients. This program is co-sponsored by the National Consumer Law Center and the Social Law Library and is funded by the Social Law Library’s Endowment to Promote Understanding of Consumer Issues.

Registration requires either a Social Law Library account or a free guest account.

The recording is available by digital download, generally within a week after the program date. CLE credit, when applicable, is only granted when 80 % of the live webinar is attended.
