These comments, submitted on behalf of organizations across the country that provide free legal assistance to people with low incomes, address the Department’s proposed changes to improve income-driven repayment (IDR) of student loans in the Direct Loan program. The comments are informed by the work of the legal aid attorneys and their experience helping low-income borrowers navigate the student loan system.
