This bill amends the California Consumer Financial Protection Law (CCFPL) to clarify and underscore theauthority of the Department of Financial Protection and Innovation (DFPI) to enforce consumerfinancial protection laws to safeguard consumers from deceptive and predatory practices.
NCLC fully supports the FTC’s proposal to amend the TSR to include inbound technical support calls in response to a solicitation to help protect consumers from these scam calls.
NCLC joined comments with other consumer advocates supporting a proposed rule by the CFPB that prohibits nonsufficient funds (NSF) fees on transactions that are instantaneously declined. We also supported the CFPB’s clarification of the standard for evaluating the prohibition on abusive conduct.
