Foreclosure Prevention Project - Legal Intern

Part-time: Up to 21 hours per week; possibly more in the summer.

 

Responsibilities

The Center is collaborating with the Institute for Foreclosure Legal Assistance to provide heightened resources and support to non-profit and private attorneys around the country who represent homeowners in foreclosure defense and/or related consumer credit litigation. Given the national foreclosure crisis our country is experiencing, this project is critical to helping homeowners save their most important asset. The legal intern will collaborate with NCLC attorneys to provide this support, to include: tracking and commenting on litigation developments; collecting and storing relevant litigation documents; creating a website to house helpful information, including specifics about issues related to lender insolvency, e.g., bankruptcies and bank failures.

Qualifications

A bachelor’s degree and at least one year of law school. Fine degree of accuracy in detail work, excellent written and verbal communication skills, proficiency with research on the Internet and LEXIS/NEXIS or WestLaw required. Reliable, self-motivated, and ability to handle a variety of tasks and complete tasks on deadline a must. Commitment to remaining for the entire academic year and summer of 2009 is preferred.

Salary

$14 per hour. No benefits.
