to the justice system and to help meet the chronic and vast unmet legal needs
of elderly and low income Americans.
Credit Counseling
Issues
NCLC advises consumers to evaluate all of their options before entering credit
counseling, including developing a better spending and savings plan, negotiating
individually with their creditors and—in very serious situations—declaring
bankruptcy.

and communities.
Debt Collection Abuse

collection for prior years’ unpaid loans.
Seniors Initiative
Advice on consumer credit, bankruptcy, debt collection, unfair and deceptive
practices, sales and warranties, foreclosure prevention, energy assistance,
and public utility practices
Student Loans
NCLC advocates on behalf of low-income students.
Sustainable Homeownership
